Former GUNS N' ROSES Guitarist IZZY STRADLIN Says New Music Is Coming
January 21, 2006According to SputnikMusic.com, former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Izzy Stradlin is contemplating making several new albums available over the course of 2006 and 2007, including new studio material and a rarities collection, which may feature sessions with ex-GUNS N' ROSES bandmates Slash (guitar),Duff McKagan (bass) and Matt Sorum (drums).
In a brief interview with fan site BeenAFix.com consisting of ten user-submitted questions, Stradlin confirmed the band has recorded the follow up to 2002's Japanese release "On Down the Road", his fifth studio release. A sixth album, "Like A Dog", was recorded and pressed in 2003 but failed to receive a proper label release. Instead, the album is currently available for purchase directly from the artist, demand fueled by an online petition early in 2005.
Stradlin said the as-yet-untitled album "should be ready soon," adding that they were "still workin on it." The veteran guitarist was also asked about a possible collaboration with ROLLING STONES guitarist Keith Richards, to which he replied "maybe I should." The guitarist has previously played live with the ROLLING STONES at various points in the late '80s, while STONES guitarist Ron Wood had a songwriting credit and made a guest appearance on Stradlin's debut album, "Izzy Stradlin & The Juju Hounds".
When asked about a possible demos-and-rarities release, Stradlin replied that he was shopping ideas around, and touted a 2006/2007 release of "some cool stuff." These rarities may or may not include material recorded in sessions with VELVET REVOLVER members Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum before that band joined forces with their lead singer, former STONE TEMPLE PILOTS frontman Scott Weiland.
